Workers are busy in production of coaches of the Vande Bharat Express at the LHB Shed in Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Chennai. The average cost of a coach is reportedly around Rs 6 crores.

The train has 16 coaches, with a total seating capacity of 1,128 passengers. Two of them at the centre are first class compartments.

The Vande Bharat Express, also known as Train 18, is a semi-high-speed, EMU train. Speed, safety and service are the hallmarks of this train.

It operates on two prominent routes. The first Vande Bharat Express train was flagged off on February 15, 2019 on the New Delhi-Kanpur-Allahabad-Varanasi route. More are being planned.
